ORU CBI DIARY KURUPPU MOVIE COLLECTION REPORTS AND BOXOFFICE DETAILS

33 Years of a CBl Diary Kuruppu

The film, which gave a new look and feel to the investigation thrillers in the history of Malayalam cinema, was the biggest hit of K Madhu's and SN Swamy's careers, the longest running Malayalam film outside Kerala, the subject of study for police trainees in Tamil Nadu, and an industrial hit that broke all collection records. It has been 33 years since the release of 'CBI Diary', the birthplace of the popular CBI character Sethuramayya.⁇
The first Malayalam movie to have a CBI officer as the central character !. The screenplay, starring Ali Imran, a police officer, was scrutinized and Mammootty was forced to take a leave of absence from the police roles and switch to CBI Brahmin Sethuramayya. This is one of the reasons why the film has received so much acclaim!
Sethuramayya's separate case investigation was a novelty for the Malayalees. It cannot be ruled out that this film is behind the attitude of the Malayalees that all cases should be investigated by the CBI later. The character of Sethuramayya created such a big image. Although there is a lot of difference with the real CBI, Mammootty's mannerisms have grown beyond the character of Sethuramayyaar to become a figure in the minds of the audience.⁇
The CBI, which had till then broken all collection records in the history of Malayalam cinema, was making waves outside Kerala as well. The gross collection from Tamil Nadu alone is 54 lakhs. It was an all-time record in terms of ticket rates that day. In addition, it was screened at the Madras Sapphire Theater for over a year, with more than 200 days on the regular show! Prior to that, Maidir Kuttichathan was the only film from Kerala to be screened for more than 200 days. But if Kuttichathan had been dubbed into Tamil, it would have been the Malayalam version of CBI.⁇
Among the films directed by K Madhu, CBI was the biggest hit and the highest grossing film. The twentieth century, which was released in 1987, the first big hit of K Madhu's career, crossed over into theatrical running and center gross and made CBI history the following year. In an interview, K Madhu said, "The CBI diary has grossed over Rs 2 crore and gross of Rs 2.5 crore in the twentieth century."⁇
The CBI has been exhibiting in major centers in Kerala for more than 150 days and has a history of over 100 days in Class B. Also, CBI is the first film to complete 50 days in 14 centers! Following its historic success in Kerala and Tamil Nadu without even dubbing, the film was remade in Telugu in 1988 as Nyayam Kosam and in Hindi as Police Public in 1990.
Following the legendary success of the CBI, 4 episodes were released in a row. In addition to the four episodes Jagratha (1989), Sethuramayya CBI (2004) and Nerariyan CBI (2005), K Madhu and SN Sami co-starred in all the episodes. And the background music of Shyam, who has always been a trendsetter⁇
The fifth part of the film is about the evolutionary path from birth to perfection. The fifth part of CBI, which was and still is a milestone in Malayalam cinema, will be the return of Swargachithra Appachan to the production industry after a long hiatus. Millions of viewers are eagerly waiting for Iyer's fifth arrival to untie the knot of the case with the same intellect and the same energy.
