It's been 15 years since Gulan appeared on the screen
'Thuruppu Gulan' was released on April 13, 2006 with great anticipation as the first film with megastar Mammootty With Johnny Antony, who caught the attention of the audience with his two films CID Moosa and kochi Rajavu. Thuruppu Gulan was hailed as one of the best comedy and entertainment films of his carrier.
Mammootty's dance numbers, fights and comedy as Kunjumon were received with open arms by the family audience including women and children.
Released in 45 centers, the film had 5 shows in 10 theaters on its first day. The film, which had the largest initial collection so far that year, acquired 1.09 cr shares in its first week. Gross will be 2.12 crore. It was one of the biggest hits of the year, grossing over Rs 7 crore in one month and Rs 9 crore in 50 days, from the first day to the final run.
Gulan completed 50 days at Saritha, the largest theater in Ernakulam.
In 70 days, it acquired the record share of Ajanta Theater, Thiruvananthapuram and screened for 100 days at 2 centers, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram 
Fifteen years after its release, the film continues to excel on mini screens.
