35 years of megahit movie born out of mega hit ...!

The Mammootty-Sajan partnership was one of the most successful in the 80s. Most of the films were aimed at bringing the family audience to the theater in droves. Today marks the 35th anniversary of the release of 'Snehamulla Simham', one of the flagship successes of the duo.
Snehamulla simham was released on June 24, 1986. Mammootty and Nalini co-wrote the story for the film, which was written by MD Ajay Ghosh and scripted by SN Swamy. Vaishakhan, the Mammootty character in the movie, was received by the family audience with open arms ... !!
Similarly, the songs and background music of the film were very popular at that time.
Sajan, who was a hit maker in the 80s, has directed over 30 films. With Mammootty in the lead, Chakkarayumma, Koottinilamkili, Thammil Tammil, Upaharam, A Look, Seeing and Seeing, Snehamulla Simham, Geetham, Ennu Nathan's Nimmi, he directed 9 films and all but Geetham were successful. The combo was first put together in the 1984 blockbuster Chakkarayumma. The director later became known in the industry as Chakkarayumma Sajan.
snehamulla simham was the third big hit behind the vartha and Avanazi, which was released in 1986 itself. The film, which was screened for 50 days in 6 centers and 100 days in 2 centers, created a wave in BC classes ... !!
It is a fact that other star films do not get the same acceptance as Mammootty's films which got Positive. This did not change much in 1986 either. Small examples of this are the fact that even after the release of Mohanlal's Superstar Rajavinte makan, Mohanlal's third family hit of the year, Mohanlal's family film Mohanlal was unable to surpass even snehamulla simham. If you look at the 90s, Mammootty brought Kalapani, who was released on a big canvas in the cosmic hype and got a positive report in the theaters, with a family film called Hitler ... !!
Even the Center Gross Collection, which took the family picture of the snehamulla simham in 1986, which some centers call Mammootty's the worst year, could not take that year's comedy entertainer Gandhi Nagar 2nd Street or Mohanlal's biggest of the year's succes rajavnte makan ...
While snehamulla simham from Thiruvananthapuram achieved 2.90 lakh net collection in just 43 days (gross 3.6 lakh), Gandhinagar 2nd Street's total collection for 46 days was only 2.90 lakh. When Gandhi Nagar was removed from Thiruvananthapuram in 70 days, the snehamulla simham ran there for 100 days. Even Mammootty's small family films were more acceptable than the 1986 comedy entertainer Mohanlal's film ... !!
The same as rajavinte makan, who is hailed as Mohanlal's biggest hit of the year ..!
When Rajavinte makan got 2.80 lakh net collection from Thiruvananthapuram in 28 days and was washed out in 50 days without entering the family, the snehamulla simham ran around Thiruvananthapuram for 100 days ... !!
Mammootty's first three films were released in 1986. Avanazi, vartha & snehamulla simham. It should be remembered that Mohanlal did not have a film that even deserved to be compared as a snehamulla simham.
In 1986, when the paparazzi claimed that Mohanlal was number one, Mammootty made 4 of the 9 films that made a profit from  A Class theaters alone. 
Today, on social media, Palkuppi Mohanlal fans say that many of their first super hits of '86 were a failure in A Class , but one can only imagine how empty the star value of Mohanlal was then in front of Mammootty ... !!
