VARTHA MALAYALAM MOVIE - 2ND BIGGEST GROSSER OF 1986

Mammootty - Iv Sasi - T Damodaran Another big hit of the team, the second biggest hit of the year, the film that changed the politics of Tamil Nadu when it was remade in Tamil.! 35 years of VARTHA

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the release of Grihalakshmi's VARTHA release by writer T Damodaran Mash, master director Iv Sasi, Mammootty, the symbol of the angry youth of the 80s, and Seema, Mohanlal and Rahman.
Madhavankutty, a journalist in the VARTHA, was one of the strongest characters in Mammootty's career. There was an opinion at that time that Mammootty's character was created by MD Nalappattu, the son of Madhavikutty who was the editor of Mathrubhumi. The news was one of the best films released in Malayalam on the subject of journalism. The film tells the story of a journalist 's struggle against corruption and injustice in society. As usual, the highlight of the film is the strong dialogues of T Damodaran Mash. These dialogue deliveries in the voice of Mammootty in the movie forts filled the audience with applause. I do not know if it was the sword pointed by the journalist against the injustice in the society.
Seema played the lead role of Mammootty in the role of Radha Menon. Mohanlal played the supporting role of Parole Vasu, a street goon, and Rahman played the role of Unnikrishnan. Kuthiravattam Pappu's Hamsa and Venu Nagavally's Devan, a journalist, are short but memorable characters!
The film ends with the words, "The news does not end here." Tried and tested for a different climax film that conquers evil over good, and the cast ended up expecting a second part. In the climax, the audience cannot see the man who shot Madhavan Kutty and Parole Vasu, but only Unnikrishnan, played by Rahman, saw him. Who was that killer? This left no doubt and every spectator who saw the VARTHA left the theater. There were discussions for the second part but for some reason it did not happen later.!
It was remade as 'Paleivana Rojakkal' in Tamil and 'Jai Shiva Shankar' in Hindi. The Tamil remake caused a stir in Tamil Nadu. Sakshal Kalaignar Karunanidhi wrote the screenplay for Palaivana Rojas starring Sathyaraj and Prabhu in the lead roles. It was also a political play by Karunanidhi ahead of the 1987 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Not only was the film a huge success with its release, but it also reflected the emotion and protest against the corruption of the ruling party in the minds of the more emotional Tamil people who saw the film in the election. Karunanidhi's party came to power with a large majority and he became the Chief Minister. Following the trend of news remakes in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh,
VARTHA was released on February 28, 1986 at 14 Centers in Kerala. It was screened for 100 days in four theaters. IT created a smash hit collection in A, B and C centers made it the second biggest hit film of the year after Avanazi. It is worth mentioning that both the films were written and directed by the IV Sasi-T Damodaran team⁇
